Elkhorn Slough

DIRECTIONS:
Located near Highway 1 and Airport Blvd, in Watsonville.

Phone locations

Pay phone: At the public launching area, on the far side of the Kayak Connection building and next to the foot bridge leading to the docks: (831) 724-9695.

Kayak Connection, Monterey Bay Kayaks and the yacht club will make emergency calls if necessary.

Pay phone at the Elkhorn Slough Visitor Center inside the building: (831)375-9079. To reach the center from the slough: paddle under the railway bridge on the south side of the slough. Then paddle behind the island parallel to the slough. Walk up the hill past the large and small metal-roofed buildings before the copse of eucalyptus trees. There is no pay phone at Kirby Park.

DIRECTIONS: Located on 68 near Highway 1.

Phone locations

Monterey Bay Kayak will phone for ememgency situations. Pay phone is across the street from Monterey Bay Kayak, at MacDonalds; (831)372-9835 and (831)372-9851. Public Parking is $0.75 per hour for 4 hours, 9 am to 8 pm.

Breakwater Cove/San Carlos Beach at the north end of Cannery Row: pay phone is on the side of the Massaro Santos Restuarant near the docks. (831)649-9092.There are restrooms at both ends of the public area, and the restrooms near the docks have an outdoor shower facility. Parking is 2 hours for $1.50 and $6.00 for all day (4 tickets) and there are change machines. There is a wide stairway down to the beach.

Lovers Point Park: pay phone is located next to the flag pole. (831)375--9079. Public Parking is limited to 2 hours in the lot and along the main road.
