Kayak Schools

You can go for a day, a weekend or make an adventure out of it and go for a week.  Most schools have regularly schedule classes you can join or will let you setup your own group lessons or private lessons if your prefer.

Here are some schools club in and around the California Bay Area. 

• California Watersport Collective – Located in Marin and operating on various rivers like the South Fork of the American River, this school offers whitewater kayaking classes for all skill levels. They emphasize building both paddling skills and community through their instruction. 

• Current Adventures Kayak School and Trips – Based in Lotus, CA, near the American River, Current Adventures provides whitewater kayaking lessons for all levels, including accelerated courses. They offer a mix of group and private lessons with small student-to-instructor ratio.

• California Canoe & Kayak – With a strong presence in the Bay Area and a whitewater school on the South Fork American River, this school offers decades of experience teaching whitewater paddling. The American River courses are especially popular, providing instruction on rapids ranging from Class II to Class V​.
